Ravens 2004: Week 15: Ravens Loose Because Of Their Mistakes

Peyton Manning was supposed to pick up apart the Ravens defense much like Carson Palmer had a few weeks back but it turned out to be a defense game and the team that made the least mistakes won the game. The Colts scored 10 points on Ravens mistakes and wound up winning the game by 10 points. Boller was intercepted with 24 seconds left at the end of the first half and the Colts were able to turned it into a field goal. The second mistake was made by the usually dependable Matt Stover. On a short yard field goal attempt Stover kicked it low and hit the back of an offensive lineman. A Colt picked it up and returned inside Ravens territory. Peyton Manning was then able to connect with Marvin Harrison for his 47th touchdown pass of the year.

Yet again the Ravens defense put up a strong performance. The first half ended with the Ravens trailing 6-3. Edgerrin James was non existent in the game and Peyton Manning had only 1 touchdown. However, the Ravens offense, withstanding Jamal Lewis, did not do so well. Boller threw 2 picks and was sacked several times. Johnaton Ogden was beat on numerous occasions by Dwight Freeny. But Dwight Freeny ain't no chump; he leads the league with 15 sacks. On two different drives Todd Heap and Clearance Moore dropped catchable balls in the end zone.

The Ravens game next week at Pittsburgh is now a must win. The Ravens, Jaguars, and Bills are all 8-6 and only one of them will be going to the playoffs.

I don't know why everyone hated on this movie. It was not bad at all. But this is coming from a guy who did not think much of Gladiator, Troy or all the Lord of the Ring movies. Was it historically accurate? I have no clue. This was one of Angelina Jolie's better performances.

The theater I saw the film in, AMC 14 in Greenbelt, MD, had no heat. It might have been colder inside the theater than outside. Good thing I had on 2 sweaters under my jacket.

Damn it Orioles

They said coming into the off season they were going to upgrade their starting pitching. They let Carl Pavano pass, came back from the winter meetings empty handed, and now they let Tim Hudson slip away from them. And the A's only wanted Erik Bedard, John Maine and Hayden Penn. These are mere prospects. So what if he did not want to talk contract extension. If he had no intention of staying here, the Orioles could have always traded him away by July. Imagine what a contending team would have given up for Tim Hudson. Now the best available free agent pitchers left are Eric Milton and Derek Lowe. Damn it Orioles, you had a chance to acquire a legitimate #1 starter.

Late Late Show Has New Host

Craig Ferguson will be the new host of CBS' Late Late Show. These matters to me because I usually don't get a chance to watch TV until 11:30 PM (not counting Ravens and Orioles games). CBS did not make a bad decision. The previous host, Craig Kilborn, was terrible. Watching paint dry is more exciting than watching Craig Kilborn.

Ravens 2004: Week 14: Ravens have last spot in playoff race

Boller had the best day in his young career but I think anyone could have thrown 4 touchdowns against the Giants, probably the worst team in the NFL. Every one will find out what he is really made of in the next two weeks when he will have to play catch up with Peyton Manning and then face the NFL's best defense, Pittsburgh, the following week.

If the Ravens have any hope of winning the game against Indy, they are going to have to do all they can to win the time of possession battle, meaning Jamal Lewis will need to be healthy. Today, Jamal only played in the first half. Its inevitable that Peyton Manning will throw a whole bunch of yards but the Ravens need to focus all their attention on stopping Edgerrin James. The Ravens will have to hope making the Colts offense one-dimensional will lead to interceptions and letting the Ravens do what they do best; returning interceptions for a touchdown.

The game against Pittsburgh will have to be all about Boller. Assuming Jamal Lewis will be healthy, Boller will have to use play-action effectively. The Ravens will need to score early and avoid the 4th quarter breakdown they have been having the past two weeks.
