In a perfect world, tomorrow . . .

... both of Pennsylvania’s NFL teams will loose; the Eagles loosing to the Ravens and the Steelers falling to the Patriots and as a result, the Ravens can relinquish the top spot in the AFC North. It could happen.

Nelly - Sweat

With the exception of the first two singles, this album is filled with material a producer could have come up with 5 minutes. Suit was so much better than Sweat but even though, two albums from Nelly was not necessary. The two albums were essentially the same. He should have taken the good stuff from Suit and the good from Sweat and released one album. How about this:

  1. Flap Your Wings
  2. Play It Off (Feat. Pharrell Williams)
  3. My Place (Feat. Jaheim)
  4. Paradise
  5. Woodgrain And Leather Wit A Hole
  6. Over And Over (Feat. Tim McGraw)
  7. Nobody Knows (Feat. Anthony Hamilton)
  8. American Dream (Feat. St Lunatics)
  9. Tilt Ya Head Back (Feat. Christina Aguilera)
  10. River Don't Runnn (Feat. Murphy Lee & Stephen Marley)

Now right there, that would have been one hot album. Even thought I wasn't feeling Nelly, his albums were much better than most albums released this year. The thing is the year is almost over but in the next two months there are a lot of top artists releasing CDs: Eminem, Fabolous, Gwen Stefani, Trick Daddy, R Kelly & Jay-Z, Ja Rule, Twista, TI, U2, Destiny’s Child, Chingy, Ludacris and Snoop Dogg. Since these albums are being released late in the year, they will be considered albums of 2005. The best of album of 2004 belongs to either Usher, Jay-Z or Kanye. If you ask me, Kanye gets the nod.

I was wrong about the Red Sox

I did think they were going to win the WS after playing 7 draining games agaist the Yanks. The bad thing about them winning the WS is that they will most likely resign Lowe and Pedro. The Orioles could land one of them if they become free agents as they are unlikely to go to New York. But now it would be foolish of the Red Sox not to bring both of them back.

The only other free agent starting pitcher everyone is talking about this winter is Pavano. With the Yankees starring pitching being their weakest link, you know Pavano will become a Yankee.

Ravens 2004: Week 7 : Ravens Get A Gift

The Ravens won again this week but it wasn't because of a good job by the defense or a good running game. The Ravens won this game because the Bills kept shooting themselves in the foot all game long. They turned over the ball over 5 times and had numerous costly penalties called against them.

Week 7 of the NFL has come and gone but the Ravens still haven't got their passing game figured out. There were way too many three and outs in the game. Take away that 47-yard pass to Travis Taylor and Boller has 39 yards for the entire game. Boller has now started 15 NFL games and the Ravens' coaches and personnel should have seen enough to decide where Boller is the real thing or not. With Jamal Lewis and a good offensive line, Boller should have done much much better.

The defense once again carried this team to another victory. They picked off Bledsoe 4 times, twice by Deion Primetime Sanders, once returning it for a TD. One thing I didn't understand about the Ravens defensive game was why wasn't McAlister covering Moulds? Most of the time he was covered by either Baxter or Sanders. I read somewhere that since he signed his new contract, he will be primarily staying on once side of the field whomever he might be covering. What kind of nonsense is that? Shouldn't our best corner be covering the opponent's best receiver?

So far this year the Ravens have faced only one team that is expected to make it to the playoffs and that was the Steelers, which the Ravens defeated. Next week the Ravens will face their biggest test of the year when the visit the 6-0 Eagles. For the Ravens to win this game they need Heap, Ogden and Flynn back on offense. The defense never seems to fail the team but in this game it will take equal and great participation from all aspects of the football team. Philly can't stop the run and must be drained from their Week 7 game against the Browns, which went to overtime. If only Jamal could play, then the Ravens could have been in good position to give the Eagles their first loss of the year.

I don't know about the Red Sox

I don't know if they will have energy to defeat the Cardinals. After 7 very draining games against the Yankees, the Red Sox have to be under dogs.

Nelly: Suit

This album did not do much for me. It seemed like all the tracks were on the same level; not very bad nor good. The tracks that stand out in this album are Play It Off featuring Pharrell, Woodgrain And Leather Wit A Hole, and Paradise. My Place featuring Jaheim was average. I was surprised at first that he did a track with Tim McGraw (Over And Over) but it looks like it's on its way to being a hit. I wonder if they play that song on country stations? Honorable mentions goes to Nobody Knows featuring Anthony Hamilton. This song could have been great if it had been a better rapper than Nelly on the track. Anthony Hamilton is great on the chorus.

The Village

This was definitley the best movie I have seen this year. The biggest jaw dropper I have seen since the Sixth Sense. Althought I thought it odd that you could actually see one of the overhead microphones during one of the scences. How is it possible this happened? Does not make any sense to me.

Ravens 2004: Week 4 : Embarrassed at home

The Chiefs offense was too much for the Ravens defense. They amounted 398 yards and only punted 5 times. They held the ball for 40 minutes. Priest Holmes rushed for 125 yards and Trent Green threw for 223 yards. The Chiefs were exceptionally good at 3rd down conversions.

The only person who showed up for the Ravens was rookie BJ Sams. He returned a punt for a touchdown at the end of the second quarter for 58 yards which tied the game at 17. He also had good kickoff returns to consistently put the Ravens in good field positions.

The Ravens were able to keep the game close mainly do to 2 big plays. The first was a flea flicker that resulted in a 56-yard touchdown to Randy Hymes. The second one was the punt return by BJ Sams. They were helped by the referees on their 3 touchdown. The referees called pass interference on the Chiefs on a throw well out of reach of any Raven player. If the penalty had not been called, the result would have been an INT.

The Orioles are much improved

I think the Orioles met everyones expectations this year. They finished third and showed some signs they are only a player here and player there away. They finished third in hitting and seventh in pitching in the AL. They broke club records for team hitting average, hits, and doubles. The offense is there. The pitching is there too but it is not ready. The Orioles need to look at signing at least one veteran pitcher (perhaps Pedro, C. Pavano). The bullpen is pretty solid. If the Orioles decide that B.J. Ryan will be the closer, I would like to see them sign some lefty of the wire.

With Segui, Daal, and Cordova's contracts running out, the Orioles can afford to add another big bat in the lineup. They could go for Carlos Delgado to upgrade at first but I would much rather see them upgrade the outfield. Bigbie seems to be the only promising outfielder we have. Matos and Bigbie are always getting hurt. We will have to see more of Newhan to see if he is for real. They can move Gibbons to first (or bring back Palmiero) and try to sign one of these studs: Carlos Beltran, Magglio Ordonez, J.D. Drew, or Jeromy Burnitz.

The Orioles may not bring back Palmiero but I think it would be a mistake not to bring Surhoff back. This guy can still hit, he makes clutch hits, and above all, he brings veteran leadership and example to our young outfield.

I think it was the right thing to do by bringing back Mazz. He had a terrific second half and who ever made the move to bring back Ray Miller was a terrific move. Mazz and his guys have done an excellent job to close the season.

Well, good bye 2004 Orioles. I can't wait for the 2005 season.
