Here is something somebody posted on my Orioles yahoo group:
Sports Illustrated has an inside look at fantasy sports this week. Some tidbits:- Fantasy sports is the second biggest Internet money-maker. Only pornography beats it out.
- Mario Cuomo, Bryant Gumbel, Michael J. Fox, Curt Schilling, singer Meat Loaf, Dan Marino and the entire Philadelphia Phillies front office are just a few of the many famous or interesting people who play and have anonymous teams in public leagues.
- Former Red Sox outfielder Dwight Evans played fantasy baseball and once traded himself for pitching. Likewise, Atlanta Hawk guard Boris Diaw dropped himself from his fantasy NBA team for poor play.
- Current Red Sox pitcher Derek Lowe learned of the phenomenon when a fan yelled at him "You're killing me on my fantasy team".
- There are more fantasy sports publications than there are sports publications.
- Aside from the usual fantasy leagues, there is also Fantasy Bass Fishing, Fantasy Stock Market and Fantasy Supreme Court.
- You can buy a gadget for your car's dash board which will warn you when it is time to drop, bench or trade someone (e.g. Jim Edmonds BA drops below
.250).
I think the Kiss of Death is the one of the best albums of the year. Nate Dogg's hook on the first single is one of his best. Although I don't think Time's Up is my favorite track. I think my favorite track is Shine featuring Snoop Dogg and DJ Quick. Another hot track is Real Hip Hop featuring Sheek. There is also good contributions from Kanye West (Gettin' It In) and the Neptunes (Hot Sauce To Go). He also does a track with his favorite artist to collaborate with, Styles P (Shoot Outs). It ain't no where as good as We Gonna Make It from his previous album. Another good track is Why featuring Anthony Hamilton is another good track. But is asking how Halle Berry and Denzel Washington got their Oscars an important question? Other good tracks that deserve some mention are U Make Me Wanna featuring Mariah Carey, I'm Going Back, Still Feel Me, and By Your Side. The only track I can say I disliked is Welcome To D-Block featuring Skeek and Eminem,
The only other person who came out with a better album this year is Kanye West (The College Dropout). If you count The Black Album as a 2004 album (even thought it came out in late 2003, the Grammy's will count it as a 2004 album, so shall I), then Jay-Hova has the second best album of the year. Jada has the third best followed by Twista's Kamikaze. Oh wait, I forgot about Usher. Well, I am tired of hearing him cry, so we will put him fifth.
I got the idea from The Orioles Warehouse. They have an all-time O's section. I liked it so I made one for the Ravens. So all you Ravens fans out there, please take a quick minute and cast you vote.
McDonald's and Merriweather Post Pavilion are bringing big names to Columbia, Maryland this year: Fuel, Evanescence, Big Boi, and Twista. Merriweather is 30 mintues walking from where I live. It is gonna be a nice summer. (BusinessWire)
* I now see how Oprah made $220 million this year; she takes a commercial break every 5 minutes. For the first time every, I sat down and watched an entire episode of Oprah because Clinton was on it and I missed 60 minutes Sunday night. I have never seen any other TV program that has taken as many commercials as Oprah does (on the radio WTOP does that, so annoying).
* I saw Gary Williams yesterday. He is head coach of the men's University of Maryland Terps basketball team. I saw him inside the Bank of America on Knox Rd and Route 1 in College Park, MD. I said hello to him and he said hello back. He drove away in his Mercedes (he is the highest paid public official in the state Maryland. He makes around $2 million a year.)
* Kiss of Death is the second best rap album of the year, after the College Dropout
* Ray and Jamal Lewis are nominated for a couple of EPSY awards. Make sure you vote for them.
I recently discovered that my favorite TV show of all time, Early Edition, was shown weeknights on Pax TV. But now it seems Pax won't be showing anymore episodes after September. Just Great!
The Neptunes will do Snoop's next album. Whatever happened to DPG-Unit?

* it is mad hot in my room. I need to get a fan
* the cicadas are almost gone. Thank goodness. I am tired of avoiding them; trying not to step on them on the sidewalks, twisting and turning so they won't crash into me, and putting my earphones volume to maximum so I won't have to hear them. On the same note, I am glad the lightening bugs are back. They are beautiful when it is pitch dark outside.
* there aren't too many black faces lined up to pay their respects to Reagan
* The College Dropout is the best album of 2004
* when is Hunger For More coming out? I also can't wait for Happy People/You Saved Me
* I just installed OpenOffice.org on my computer because the WordPerfect program I had on my computer disappeared. OpenOffice.org is not Microsoft Office but it will do. Plus it is compatible with Microsoft Office.
* Windows me sucks. I need to get Windows XP
John Woo (Paycheck, Windtalkers, Mission: Impossible 2) has agreed to direct Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six. While I was going through Yahoo's upcoming movie listings, I discovered that there is another Tom Clancy movie in production: Red Rabbit. I am currently reading that book so I hope it comes out first. I will start on Rainbow Six as soon as I finish Red Rabbit.

The long time Pittsburgh Steeler is now a Baltimore Raven. A lot of people seem to be unhappy to with Ravens signing the "Slash" but I think it is a good move. He said he is willing to play backup and tutor Boller while agreeing to play for the league minimum of $760,000. He is only signed for one year, so if it does not work out, you can get rid of him.
