Counting on The Big Bounce

I am predicting this week's top box office movie will be The Big Bounce. I think the end result will be close with The Perfect Score but I think Bounce's star power (Owen Wilson, Morgan Freeman) will carry it to top. I am guessing its weekend gross will be a cool $20 mil. I think it would have done better if it had not come out in a weekend featuring the Super Bowl and cold weather in the east coast.

Intolerable Cruelty (2003)

Nice little movie. I wanted to watch it because I think Catherine Zeta-Jones is the hottest thing on the planet. The scene where the dude put the gun in his mouth and pulled the trigger because he thought it was his asthma inhaler, well that scene was like whoa. An interesting way of ending a situation.

Becker gone

Crew of Becker
Well Damn! Over the last few months, the syndicated version of Becker has become on of my favorite shows on TV. I thought the show had been cancelled a long time ago. I found out that last night CBS aired the series finale of the show. What the? Why are they gonna air the series final in January? Was the show doing that bad in the ratings they could not wait until spring? I joined this yahoo group last night to find out whatever happened to one of the character in the show (Reggie). Instead I find out the show is being canned. Well Damn!

R Kelly told to avoid Michael Jackson

R Kelly will be allowed to go to the Grammy's but he must stay away from Michael Jackson, according to judges orders. Why? Why does it matter who R Kelly has business with? Will they terrorize the country if they get together? Perhaps they will talk about the judge behind his back. This is so stupid.

New Ben-Jen Movie

The next Jennifer Lopez and Ben Afleck movie, Jersey Girl, is not really a Bennifer movie. She dies within the first 12 minutes.

No Longer ruled by country music

As long as I could remember, the highest rated station in Baltimore has been the area's only country station. But the new arbitron reports show that it has fallen to second and the new king of Baltimore is the local rap station. One thing I don't understand is why DC has 3 stations that play mostly hip-hop and Baltimore has only 1. Last time I checked, Baltimore's population was bigger than DC's.

Ying Yang Twins not blood brothers

D-Roc and Kaine
Here is their history from Launch: "Despite their striking resemblance, YYT members D-Roc and Kaine are not blood brothers. In 1996, a mutual friend, producer Beat-In-Azz, introduced them when he was asked to do a remix for one of D-Roc’s solo songs."

First major snow of season

This is not the first time it has snowed here in College Park, MD but this time around there is major accumulation. Today was suppose to be the first day of classes her at UMCP. I hope this means they will change the last day to fix drop/add. There is more snow coming so hopefully it will mean more school closing this week. Yeah yeah yeah.

It is umbrella cold out thurre

No it is not raining, sleeting, hailing or snowing but I still needed my umbrella to get to the library today. I had to use it as a shield against the wind because all the shops around here are out of a scarf. But I don’t think a scarf would have done me any good. It would have covered my face below my eyes but what about my forehead and my eyes. Normally I would walk backwards to avoid the wind hitting my face but when I walk backwards, I don’t walk as fast and I remain in the cold longer. But today I drew the line even if it meant me looking very silly. I pulled out my tiny umbrella, which I carry in my book bag in case of rain, and put it in front of my face and it worked wonderfully. Good thing my mom got me those gloves because I normally keep them in my pockets to keep them warm but this time I had to use both my hands to hold the umbrella steady in front of me. I have now lived through 11 winters in the United States, mostly in Columbia, MD but now in College Park, MD, this one is by far the coldest. So much for global warming!

Locked myself out, again

This is the second time it happened to me in the past year and it always happens my friend, Said, comes over. He use to stay at my place over the summer (I was at my parents home for the summer). I guess he must have made the habit of locking the door from the inside and then leaving. I, on the other hand, lock the door from the outside (that way I know I have my keys with me). Today he came over and as he left, he locked the door from the inside. After he left, I stepped out for a little while and when I came back the door was locked. He did the same thing the last time he came over. That time I simply walked to the managers building and got a key. But this time she was out for lunch. So I was stuck standing in the freezing cold hallway until the dude that lives next door suggested I try to get in through the window. He got me a chair and because I live on the ground floor I was able to enter easily. So what did I learn from this whole experience. Not to let my friend visit me again? No. To always make sure I have my keys or make sure the door is not locked? No. What I learned was that I must always have my window locked because if I, being overweight, can climb though my window anyone can. I also better not start anything with the dude that helped me out because he knows he can enter my place through the window.

Speakerboxxx/The Love Below

I heard the entire CD for the first time over the weekend. I love Hey Ya and The Way You Move. I think Hey Ya is the best song of the year but I don't know about the new Outkast CD being the best album of the year. Andre is too weird for me. His first two tracks sound like something out of the 50s. The rest sound like he was high when he thought up the songs. Big Boi's sounds were much better but most of it was crap. It was little too techno-ish for me.

Defense Defense Defense

The last 3 teams that have won the super bowl have done so because of their defense; Baltimore, New England and Tampa. This year it is no different. The two teams that will battle on this upcoming super bowl are both defensive teams; New England and Carolina.

Movies 2003

Best Movie of 2003: The Matrix Reloaded
I have not seen the third installment but from what other people have said, it was not as good. Matrix 2 featured the best action scenes I have ever seen. I don't think any other movie was as good as this one.
Runner Up: Cold Mountain
I really liked this movie. I think this is probably the first time ever that I have liked a movie that is a favorite to win the Oscar. I don't know why they made the movie so violent (Rated R) or else it could have been a nice family movie.

Worst Movie of 2003: Freddy vs. Jason
Looked like a low budge movie. The acting was really bad. The movie was not scary at all.
Runner Up: The Real Cancun
This movie was really bad. I hate reality TV. I don't even know why I bothered to watch it.

Most Disappointing Movie of 2003: The Hulk
I thought perhaps this could be part 1 of more upcoming Hulk movies. If there ever is Hulk 2 and it is made by the same group of people who made the first one, I will not go and see it. I was really disappointed by the Hulk. The Hulk looked so fake and so did the other non-human characters in the movie.

While reading an introduction to Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream , I discovered that sitcoms meant situational comedy.

Tom Clancy books

I have recently made up my mind to read Tom Clancy books. The reason I am planning on doing it is because my cousin and uncle are reading up all of John Grisham's books. They have told me what the stories are about so it would not be any fun for me to read them. Although, I want to read John Grisham's Street Lawyer because almost everyone in my house has read it. I made a list of Tom Clancy books doing a quick search on the net. I know the list is not complete; it does not include the Net-force series. I know the net-force and op-center series are not written by Tom Clancy so I might remove them sometime in the future.
