Thanksgiving

We went to our aunt's restaurant in Virginia. I had a lot of fun. I did not eat anything, except a piece of pumpkin pie. My mom and sister cooked at home and when we got to the restaurant, we were not hungry. We arrived late so we missed the prayer and the blessing of the food and for the other ceremonies. I hanged out with my cousins. Some of them danced in front of everyone and they got some money for it. We were the last ones to arrive but we were also one of the firsts to leave. It was kind of fun and most of us did not want to leave but our mom had work to do.

Britney on top

Britney Spears
Her new CD, In The Zone, debuted at number one moving 609,000 copies. The only good song from her CD is I Got That Boom Boom featuring the Ying Yang Twins. Who would have thunk Britney Spears and Ying Yang Twins would ever make a record together? Not me.

I though there was a real chance that Michael Jackson would debut number one because of all the coverage he is getting. Instead he landed at number 13 with Number Ones selling 121,000 units.

What surprised me more about the album charts was that G-Unit sold more than Jay-Z. Last week Jay-Z debuted at number 1 selling 463,000 and G-Unit opened at number 3 moving 377,000. This week Jay-Z's sells dropped by nearly 200,000 while G-Unit's sells dipped only by 50,000. So far in 2 weeks Jay-Z has sold a total of 751,000 CDs and G-Unit has sold 704,000. So G-Units decision to release the CD at the same time as Jay-Z was not a bad idea.

University of Maryland

This is what makes my school so great:

A victim reported two men entered McKeldin Library wearing only towels around their waists and exposed themselves Nov. 7 around 5:30 p.m. Two white males about 20 years old and 170 pounds, one blond and the other brunette, entered the building asking if they were at the library, Atwell said. They then dropped their towels as one ran out of the building, she said, and the other circled the information desk before leaving. University Police searched the area but did not find or identify any suspects, Atwell said.

This is from our school paper: >>

Oh what a comeback

My team, the Baltimore Ravens, instrumented their greatest comeback ever today against the Seattle Seahawks. They were down by 17 points with 6:23 left in the 4th. They tied the game and took it to overtime where a FG completed the comeback. On the westcoast, the Cincinnati Bengals also won so we are still tied for first in the AFC North. We will play them in 2 weeks and with them going to PIT next week, we could be up ahead of them by 2 games after 2 weeks.

Oh what a game, Maryland over NC State

This had to be the Terps best game of the year. With less than 6 minutes to play, they are down by 7 points. They take the ball 80 yards and score a touchdown but the ever so dependable Nick Novak misses the extra point. There is only 2:29 left and on the clock and all NC State has to do is run the clock out. It looked like they were gonna be able to do so for on their very first play their running back rushes for 17-yards. They are gonna run out the clock by running the ball. On their second play, a big hit from the Terps, a fumble and Maryland recovers. There is a minute and a half left on the clock and the Terps are at Midfield. They do now want to risk turning the ball over and the run the ball until they get to field goal territory because the ball coach has all the confidence in his kicker although he has had a bad game. They run the ball until they reach 4th down. There is less than 30 seconds left so you have to kick the ball. Here goes the kick and its good. Maryland wins, yeah.

The Necklace

I had to read this short story for class, The Necklace by a French writer Guy de Maupassant. An amazing ending.

Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson
I really deeply hope this allegations against Michael are false. Michael is my favorite musician of all time. But saying all that, why send 70 police officers? This allegation looks series and they have already issued an arrest warrant. But one thing I don't understand is why parents keep leaving their kids with him, unless they are out to falsely accuse him. According to the news articles Michael is surrounded by staff 24-hours a day in case of these kind of accusations. Man, Michael I hope you are innocent.

Eminem a racist?: This is real hard to believe. According to The Source he made a song 10 years ago using the N word and also talking negatively about black woman. The source has a small audio clip available. It does sound like him but who knows.

Jay-Z over G-Unit: The Black Album arrives at number 1 selling 463,000 in its first week. This is Jay-Hova's 6th number #1 album. G-Unit's debut Beg for Mercy drops not at the number 2 position but at third moving 377,000 copies of their album. Second place went to Tupac's Resurrection with 430,000 copies sold. This is his eighth album released since his death.

Gothika

She Ain't Alone
This the best horror movie I have seen this year. Halle Berry was actually good! I am not a big fan of her and I think she is highly overrated. The movie was pretty good. Her and Penélope Cruz did not have makeup on for lot of the scenes. Man they looked bad (compared to the way they normally look). This is the best horror movie I have seen since The Ring. Good movie but it is not going to beat out Dr. Seuss' The Cat in the Hat in the box office this weekend. And how about Elf, going back up to #1 this past weekend. I got to go watch it, or maybe not.

I give it a B+

Alex Rodriguez wins AL MVP

Alex Rodriguez
: Last year Alex Rodriguez was snubbed of this award. But also last year, he was give a Gold Glove for playing shortstop. I was kind of unhappy with that decision, mostly because I thought Mike Bordick of the Orioles (my team) deserved it more. This year ARod won the gold glove again. I don't have a problem with it because I don't think there really was any outstanding AL shortstop this year.

But what amazed me the most about the AL MVP voting was that Jorge Posada of the Yankees got 5 first place votes. Oh come on that ain't right. The people who voted must be a bunch of Yankee lovers. On second thought, they could not be. Aren't these the same people who snubbed Hideki Matsui of the AL Rookie of the Year?

AMA follow up

The show was not bad. It was much better than the Radio Music Awards. Outkast by far had the best performance. I think this is the third time I have seen Andre 3000 performing his song in the last 2 weeks. First on SNL, then on the Jay Leno Show this past Friday. I love that song, "Hey Ya". That is the freshest, dopest joint on the airways. But anyways here is the result to my winners predictions. I made two different kind of predictions, who I would give it to and who I thought would win. For the one's I would have given it to, only 5 out of 14 won (I did not miss any from the Rap/Hip Hop category.) I did a little bit better with who I thought would actually win it: 7 out of 14.

Go Marvin

Marvin Lewis
The Bengals don't suck anymore. Why? Well because of Marvin Lewis, their head coach. Many times he has been passed on by owners when he wanted to become a head coach. And when he does get it, it is to a bad team. I am sure all those owners who ignored him are regretting it. Today his team defeated the undeafed Kansas City Chiefs. They are now tied for first place in the AFC North with my team, the Baltimore Ravens. Marvin Lewis used to be our defense coordinator in 2000 when we won the super bowl.
