The arrival of baseball is a bittersweet experience for me. First and foremost, it will mean basketball taking a back seat in the sports headlines to baseball. I am glad college basketball is finally over. The NBA has a damn long postseason. Sixteen teams in the playoffs is way too many. Second the Orioles are a much improved team. It will be fun watching them this season. They should be able to play above .500 ball.
The only bad note regarding the arrival of baseball is the Washington Nationals. I live in Maryland but in a city that is closer to Washington than Baltimore. Thus, I technicaly live in DC. Local DC television no longer has to show Oriole games since it has its on team. I could still catch them on Comcast Sportsnet (cable) but I don't watch enough TV to be shelling out $40 a month for cable. Perhaps I will sign up for MLB.TV for $79.95. The thing is MLB.TV did not cover yesterdays Oriole game.
Hopefully I will grow to love the Nationals, although it is very unlikely. I don't love the Redskins or the Wizards. I love the Orioles and the Ravens. If the Baltimore had an NBA team, I would probably love them too.
