My Super Bowl Prediction

I have had enough of the Patriots. It is about time their perfect season comes to a screetching holt. That is why I am predicting an upset: Giants 30 Patriots 27.

I am also predicting this year's half time show will be the worst yet. I Know the nfl has an image to protect but this year's lineup is as exciting as watching paint dry.

Zune or Archos

I am the in the market for a new mp3 player cause my iriver h320 has stopped functioning. I believe i broke it because i kept charging it with my tomtom car charger and that lead to its slow death. Most likely a battery replacement will bring it back to life but i have been wanting to get a new one for a minute now. Something with wifi and video playback capability. I have been looking at the new zune and archos but i have not made up my mind yet. I would rather give my left nut than get an ipod. I freakin hate ipods.

What really sucks about the iriver suddenly dying is that i never made a full backup. I probably have half of the songs in various places in my three computers but that still means i will be missing some 2000 songs.

Still not finished christmas shopping

This year I am spending a lot more then i have ever on gifts. I am buying gifts for 10 people and am trying to outdue everyone else. It will mean spending over a thousand dollars but it will be worth it. Best Buy is loving me this year: I have spent nearly $900 there only. I bought 3 ipods, a digital camera, 4 cds, 2 dvds, and paid half of a $400 laptop. I still need to get a web cam and will likely return there.

Spiderman 3

Spoiler warning! - Of all the summer movies, Spiderman 3 was the only one I was really excited about. However, after seeing this movie, it looks like its going to be a pretty lame summer movie going experience for me. Spiderman 3 becomes predictable at the end, after Harry and and his butler has the conversation where he tells him what really happened to his father. You knew he was going to show up the final fight and forgive peter and die. I knew it was all coming. The movie was good up to the conversation, after that I knew everything that was going to happen. Kind of ruined it.

I Love The Rain

I don't actually love the rain. Whenever it rains, the rain leaks through my sunroof.

This post is about a song named I Love The Rain. It is by a band named Real Tuesday Weld. I fell in the love with the song after I heard for the hundreds time on the Cherry Coke commerical. So I bought the song from mp3sale.ru.

Damn Damn Damn

I took the 70-290 Microsoft exam and failed it. Yup thats $125 down the crapper. I scoed a 653 and passing score was 700. I really thought I was ready for it. I reread the textbook and redid some of the labs and went over lots of braindumps. I will need to do a better job getting ready the next time. :(

Random Thoughts

The playoff teams are set in the AL. In the NL I am rooting for the Phillies just because they traded for Conine from the Orioles . . . I think my favorite commercial right now is the kornikova cannon powershot one.

Never ever do this

Never put too much motor oil in your car. Someone (this person shall stay nameless) did that yesterday and almost broke his car. Oil was spillng and it was getting into the muffler somehow and smoke was coming out of the tailpipe like crazy. Luckly a $32 oil changed fix this idiots problem. Phew.

Tabbed browsing in IE

One of the main reasons why I like Firefox and Opera, besides the fact they are more secure than IE, is that they offer tabbed browsing. I usually have multiple windows open and I hate it when XP 'Groups similar taskbar buttons'. I know I can deselect that option but usually its multiple web browsers that I have opened and I rather have them tabbed.

Last night I happened to download Yahoo Instant Messenger and I installed it without taking a look at what it was installing. Besides installing Yahoo Messenger (which is all I wanted), it added three menus to my All Programs, two shortcuts to my desktop, and toolbars both on IE and Firefox. Damn Yahoo. I just wanted the freaking messenger. However to my pleasant surprise, the Yahoo Toolbar allows tabbed browsing on IE. Of the three browsers I named, IE is the one I use the most.

I did a little Google search and found out that the next release of IE (7.0) will inherently support tabbed browsing. Also, MSN toolbar allows tabbed browsing on IE as well.

The apache+php installation tutorial that worked for me

I have tried serveral times and spent many hours over the last 2 days to get php to work with apache. I have finally succeded in getting it to work and it was with this tutorial.

Some notes:

  • I used apache version 2.0.58 instead of 2.2.2.
  • I am running windows xp on my laptop.
  • I used localhost both for network domain and server name.
  • Also, I took their tip and installed apache under C:\apache instead of the default c:\program files\apache group. I am just not comfortable with the spaces in the directory path.
  • In the tutorial it says to change AllowOverride setting from None to All. In my case AllowOverride was set to .htaccess so I left it alone and did not make that change.
  • I was not sure what my windows directory was so I copied the DLLs to c:\windows, c:\windows\system, and c:\windows\system32
